Tyredrain is manufactured from half segments of recycled tyres, with the side walls stapled together to form 1 meter lengths of channel shaped section. Provision is made to peg each length of Tyredrain into the ground and weep holes are inserted in each tyre segment. The 1 meter lengths are joined on site by simply abutting them together. Some examples can be seen in the following pictures.

Advantages of Tyredrain
Tyredrain provides a drainage and erosion control system, with the following advantages over conventional methods:
Tyredrain provides another major environmental benefit, the recycling of used tyres. There are approximately 12 million tyres discarded annually in Australia alone. The disposal of these tyres is a major worldwide problem that creates enormous environmental damage and fills scarce landfill sites.
These discarded tyres could be recycled to provide thousands of kilometers of Tyredrain and further benefit the environment through reduction of erosion and siltation.
Drain Size
Tyredrain is currently manufactured from car tyres, which can be used in small and large flow situations.
Machinery is also being developed to manufacture Tyredrain from truck tyres.
